Galatasaray have claimed a record 20th Super Lig title to become the Turkish champions for the third time in the past four seasons.
They had earned a 2-0 victory over their fierce rivals Besiktas at the weekend, meaning that Fenerbahce had to beat Istanbul Basaksehir in their clash this evening.
However, the defending champions could only manage a 2-2 draw, despite fighting back from two goals down having had four players sent off.
The title victory is a first for Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoglu, who only took charge of the club last November following the departure of Cesare Prandelli.
Galatasaray defeated Akhisar Belediyespor by two over one in the week of the Spor Toto Super League on Saturday, December 6 at the Istanbul ASY Sports Complex TT Arena.
Burak Yılmaz scored in minute 14 following the free-kick taken by Selçuk İnan.

Galatasaray defeated Gençlerbirliği by three goals against two on Saturday evening, May 3 at the ASY Sports Complex TT Arena in the thirty-second week of the Spor Toto Super League.
At first Oktay Delibalta scored in minute 6 for Gençlerbirliği. Then in minute 12 Ermin Zec scored also for the visitors. The first half ended with no more scores.
After the halftime when a shot by Alex Telles missed the goalpost, Burak Yılmaz grabbed the ball to score for the Yellow-Reds. Two minutes later an own goal by Yılmaz Çalık of the visitors was registered for Galatasaray. Finally, almost by the end of the play, Umut Bulut scored after he grabbed the ball passed by Sabri Sarıoğlu towards the penalty box.
With this win Galatasaray has now 59 points in the league standings.
Next game in Week 33 of the league Galatasaray will be visiting Trabzonspor at the H. Avni Aker Stadium. No spectators are allowed in the stadium since the home team was sanctioned previously for crowd violence.
